Introduction:

First time introduced Under Graduate (UG) level B.Sc (geology) in year 2009  in the Hingoli District, Marathwada Region of Maharashtra State by Shri Gajanan Shikshan Prasark Mandal, Yeldari Camp, Tal: Jintur, District: Parbhani at Toshniwal Arts, Commerce and Science College, Sengaon. We offer a three years B.Sc degree in geology. The department is highly motivated and excited to share both their knowledge and passion in the field of geology. As an intergral part of the under graduate education, the department carries out field work to insure that our under graduate programme is at par with the current requirements in this practical field. The department also thinking to provide facility of departmental library, to create a strong alumina network, which support placement of students.

Aim:

  • The aim of the department is to strengthen its core activities of teaching, training and research.

Objectives:

  1. To provide expertise in the exploration and exploitation of natural resources and finding effective solutions to geo-environmental problems associated with the utilization of natural resources.
  2. To originate and evaluated the earth and its inhabitant through the study of rocks, minerals, fossils etc.
  3. To understand the changing earths environment and its impacts.
  4. To maintain and improve professional competence in order to give better service to community.
  5. To develop skilled youth with a strong platform in diverse areas of geology through continuous assessment of the students.
  6. To develop the practical skills amongst the students.
  7.  To provide the assistance & consultancy in Geoinformatics and earth science.
  8. To encourage & promote the rural students for self employment in the geology.

Co-curricular activity:

  1. Geological study tour carried out at Yeldari Dam and surrounding area in academic year 2013-14.  
  2. Groundwater Survey Methods carried out along Kayadhu River at Narsi Namdeo in academic year 2013-14.  
  3. Student’s seminars are conducted in academic year 2013-14.  
  4. Geological Field trip to LONAR Lake during 2012-13.

  1. Member of Board of Studies for M.Sc (Geoinformatics) Syllabus framing body, North Maharshtra University, Jalgaon, (M.S)
  2. Member of Digital Governance of Geoinformatics, National Science Foundation (NSF), USA.
  3. Member HDUG MEERI, Nashik, Maharashtra.
  4. Appointed as Groundwater consultant at GSDA, Akola and Buldhana District, Maharshtra.
  5. Life member of Himalayan Geology Journal (Membership No-215).
  6. Member of YES Network - Promoting Earth Science for Society.
  7. Editorial Member of Dhyasparva Intrnational Journal.
